Pleasant and sunny, the Literature Room is one of four thematic private bedrooms available at the first floor of the Aveiro Arts House, a historic residence with a notable tradition regarding Arts and Culture. Former home of Vasco Branco, a beloved and well-respected artist from Aveiro, this unique family house combines modern amenities with a truly vintage charm.

Featuring a nice and chilled balcony, the decorative elements of the Literature Room point out to the literary creations of the Branco family. A panel designed by visual artist João Rapozo depicts a poem by Rosa Alice Branco, who is currently considered to be one of Portugal’s most prominent contemporary poets. Besides the bedroom, guests have free access to two shared WCs, a fully equipped kitchen, a charming living room and a sunroom that suggests long breakfasts and engaging conversations.

Designed in the late 50s by famous architect Victor Palla, the charismatic building is located in the very heart of Aveiro, facing a small park and Aveiro’s main museum: you get all the comforts of staying in the centre of town, while enjoying the serenity of a peaceful street.

Everything worth visiting is at walking distance: Aveiro’s famous canals, the Municipal Theatre, Vasco Branco’s public works, the several museums or the University, and Aveiro’s stunning beaches are just ten minutes away by car. We’ve prepared a guide with directions to all our favourite places to visit, eat and shop in and around Aveiro. Whenever possible, we’ll be thrilled to show you around ourselves.

Recently converted into a creative ecosystem, the building also features a gallery, a library and a cinema auditorium, which you can visit on demand. If you happen to coincide, you are absolutely welcome to attend one of the exclusive events that we occasionally host, such as movie projections, small concerts, poetry readings or wine tastings.
